Kushudebu Public Health Mission, Nepal
Jean Darlington went on a trip to Tibet 3 years ago, which was led by Ang Tshering Sherpa who told her about his dream to set up a Health Centre for several villages in a remote region of northern Nepal.
He was so inspirational that she decided to help him raise some funds as it is a very poor area. The Centre has been going from strength to strength. It serves several local villages and one or two camps for Tibetans who fled Tibet after the Chinese Invasion
The local people have worked so hard and it now has been recognised by the Nepalese Government and renamed “Kushudebu Public Health Mission”. They now have their own website Kushudebu.org.np of which they are very proud and there is a mention of the help given by St. Monica’s under the autobiographical section of Ang Tshering Sherpa.
Jean ran a Coffee Morning, a Quiz and a Beetle Drive to raise money, and friends have also donated money .
Ang has always told Jean what the money has been spent on and she has also had receipts. She believes totally in this project and was given permission by Father Martin and the Church Council to carry on raising funds.

You will find lots of information on the website and details on how individuals can help. The last donation sent to Ang was used by him to buy a Delivery Set for the Mission. We have not raised vast amounts but it is incredible what they have been able to do with our money. Ang sent some super photos last year of various items purchased and made, e.g, there was a photo of someone sitting outside the centre behind the desk made by local carpenters, a tea urn, etc.
From Dr. Satish Chandra Devkota
The Kushudebu Public Health Mission Nepal signed me for one year’s contract from 10th June 2007. It’s been few days that I have started working here and feels the health post lacks lot of medications and equipments. There are lots of works to be done yet to run the centre smoothly. I hope by the help of the local people, Kushudebu & co-workers will be able to fulfill their desire and can make a difference.

If you can help with this project, please contact Jean Darlington or email Jean
